Last week was RICH! We enjoyed time with our partner class reading How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World! We also ate Honey Crisp apples, played games, etc. We received a thank you note from Mrs. Jernigan saying how much she appreciated each students full attention and care for their partners. Thank you for raising such amazing kiddos!
This Week Includes:
Math – We will continue with Lessons 25 and 26, with our 4th test taking place on Tuesday. The test will cover Lessons 16-20. The students enjoyed our TGT review game on Friday to help prepare for the test.
Science – We will continue working on atoms, molecules, and the periodic table. Students will be bringing home a sheet today(Friday), “Elements are Punny”. Parents are able to help with some of the older references(Mr. Hudson created the worksheet a few years ago😊). The goal is to get as many elements and their symbols as possible. The punny worksheet is due on Wednesday.
Language Arts –Monday and Tuesday continue review of Where the Red Fern Grows . Test on Wednesday, October 3rd
History –continue World War 1 notes with narration Tuesday night that will be checked on Wednesday😉 Students should begin research for 1920s project at home. Will add work days in class after Fall Break.
We are planning to go Spruill Oaks Library (Fulton) on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. so that students may research their 1920s projects. I think finding an actual book to “read for information” is extremely valuable! I am glad to drive a few students and Meredith Wit said that she can drive also. Please let me know if you would like for your child to go with us. Pick up at 5 at Spruill Oaks.
Info about Service Project on Thursday, October 4th –
(this email info was sent from Meghan Grubbs on Friday)
I had the most wonderful conversation with Hannah Richardson, who works for My Sister’s House and will be with us on Thursday. She has so much enthusiasm and excitement for middle school children and is thrilled we are coming. She put together an informational page for our morning with them. Here is the link to the page. https://volunteer.atlantamission.org/custom/501/#/opp_details/2752?slotid=78317181004 You do not need to register/sign up your child for this project. The page is just so that you know what to expect that day. After a quick informational meeting on how My’s Sister’s House serves our community, the children will be doing landscape work, cleaning and disinfecting the childcare unit, and donation sorting.
I need a signed wavier form completed for each child by Wed., Oct. 3rd. I will send one home with your child and I am also going to email one to you. Please complete the wavier and send it back to school for Gavin to collect.
The students need to wear their navy casual enrichment shirt and may wear jeans or khaki pants. I asked Hannah if we might be able to bring in donations that would help them. She said that they are always in need of diapers and underwear. If you feel called to send any of those items in on Thursday, that would be totally awesome!
I would encourage you to read a little more about My Sister’s House on their website. https://atlantamission.org/melitas-story-of-transformation/ It is so inspiring to hear how they are helping mothers and children.
Please pray for our morning; for no rain, for us to serve well, for My Sister’s House to be blessed by our presence, and for our children’s hearts to be touched.
Please call me with any questions. Blessings, Meghan Grubbs 770-355-3120
