Welcome to 6th grade at PCS for 2019-20!

Dear  Awesome 6th graders,

I hope your summer has been full of FAMILY and FUN and that you are excited about taking the BIG step to the “other side” in MIDDLE SCHOOL.

I can’t wait to meet you though several of you I have known for many years.  I began praying for you by name yesterday and will continue throughout the school year.  We can add our homeroom pic to the top of this blog the first week of school.

I will be your homeroom teacher this year! You will be in my classroom first thing each morning for homeroom and BIBLE.  Later during the day, you will come to me for language arts.  I LOVE READING!  We read many wonderful novels during 6th grade that will become some of you favorites.  Our 6th grade teachers include Mrs. Ericson, who teaches BRIDGE;  Miss Tejeda, our newest team member, will be your math teacher; Mr. Hudson will be your earth science teacher and Mr. DeMaris, your  history teacher.  Olivia’s parents, are our room parents.  They are the warm, wonderful and fun (and have already had a daughter go through middle school at Perimeter).

Email or have your parents text me if you have any questions about summer reading!

Please enjoy the rest of your summer and don’t worry one bit about the new things that await you in middle school.  During the first few days of school, I will walk you step-by-step — through your schedule, setting up your larger locker, organizing your books and binders, signing up for clubs and sports and even finding a place to sit at lunch.  I am a big believer in explaining things clearly, considering the way each of my students learn, challenging you to THINK, practicing concepts many times, asking questions, lots of laughter, taking care of one another and talking to Jesus often.  We are going to have a fabulous year!

I will see you at our Meet and Greet on Friday, August 9th – 11 a.m. -12 noon.

No pressure at all, but if any of you are available to help me for an hour or so on Wednesday, August 7 around 11:00 a.m. I would love to buy you a yummy drink at the Atrium as a thank you.  Just text me to let me know.   My classroom is on the lower hallway on middle school side.

Please know that I began praying for you by name today and will continue throughout the year.

You are precious!  We are grateful for the way you were created. God has already made the WAY for us for this year!

With great excitement and JOY as we anticipate the upcoming year,

Mrs. Lee

pic of family from Wimbledon

A little bit about me – my greatest joys are…being wife to Britt, married 28 years as of tomorrow 8/3! and mom to…

Annie, 24, lives in Birmingham, Alabama – works in music at Advent Birmingham Church

Katherine, 19, junior at the University of Georgia

Jack and Brittain, twins, 17, juniors, ½ days at JCHS and ½ day on tennis courts

All of my children went to PCS and what a difference it made for our family – relationally and academically!

I love reading, spending time with family, renovating our new house, watching tennis, my dog Chipper and TEACHING you!

Our LAST Blog Update for this School Year! …includes all Camp Highland info and info for the last two weeks of school! Please read!

Dear Parents,

This will be the last of our official weekly blog posts.  This one includes everything coming up in the last two weeks of this school year.  sniff! sniff!

Students should be putting together a simple costume for Monday’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. I have a few costume items but kids should be aware of what they will need to bring on Monday morning. We have been having a lot of fun with this play.  Please see your invitation below.

There is a math and a Asia map test scheduled for next week.

Students also need to be packing (including a small Bible) for Camp Highland (packing list and dress code are attached). They can wear their Camp Highland t-shirt (with dress code bottoms) to school on Monday, May 20.  ALL of the Camp Highland info is listed at the the end of this post.

Also on Monday, May 20, we will be watching the film version of Francine Rivers’s novel, The Last Sin Eater. It’s a wonderful story of redemption, but it can be a little scary at times. You can check out the movie review at: https://www.pluggedin.com/movie-reviews/lastsineater/  Please let me know if you would prefer your child read instead during these two hours.  (If so, they should bring a book.)

I am emailing you reteaching lessons from the Saxon math book.  Each lesson has a short explanation and some practice problems.  This would be a good way to keep students sharp over the summer.  Mr. Hudson suggests skipping at least the first half.  (Answers are included at that end of the file.
